A 59-year-old male resident of Hoyt Farm Road told police on Nov. 3 that he was a victim of identity theft.
He said he became aware of the fraud after receiving a call from the Bell South phone company seeking to collect a $241.58 from him, police said.
Some someone apparently used the man's identity in 2008 to open a Bell South account in south Florida, police said. The matter is still under investigation.
