NEW CANAAN — A 26-year-old New Canaan man was charged with possession of heroin on May 18, according to a police report.

Tyler Pannetti, of Frogtown Road, was pulled over just after 8 p.m. that night after an officer observed Pennetti’s vehicle fail to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Ponus Ridge Road and Frogtown Road.

Approaching the vehicle, the officer smelled marijuana and saw drug paraphernalia in plain view. Pennetti admitted to the officer that there was marijuana and heroin in the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle confirmed that there was marijuana and heroin. Additional drug paraphernalia and Xanax were also found.

Pennetti was taken into custody and charged with possession of narcotics (heroin), possession of a controlled substance (Xanax), possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to obey a stop sign and failure to carry a license.

His bond was set at $500 and he is due in Norwalk Superior Court on June 1.
