New Canaan man allegedly strangled, punched victim

NEW CANAAN — A 56-year-old New Canaan man was charged after he allegedly assaulted his victim by strangling and punching them in the head.
On June 29 around 2:30 p.m., the victim went to police headquarters to report the dispute, which occurred earlier that day. According to the victim, Andrew O’Malley pushed the victim to the ground, before attempting to strangle the victim. He also punched the victim in the head.
After investigating the incident, police went to O’Malley’s Deacon’s Way home and took him into custody for second-degree assault and second-degree strangulation. He posted a $10,000 bond and was given a court date of June 30.
Police will not release further information on this incident, as it’s domestic in nature.
