NEW CANAAN — Police arrested a New Canaan man for allegedly driving drunk on Main Street.

On Oct. 18 around 2:45 a.m., an officer on patrol saw a vehicle going north on Main Street that failed to stay in its lane. The officer stopped the vehicle and upon speaking to the operator, Stephen Sugrue, of Hampton Lane, detected signs of intoxication. The officer conducted a motor vehicle search and a field sobriety test.

Sugrue, 63, was charged with operating while under the influence and failure to drive right. Sugrue posted $250 bond and was released with a court date of Nov. 1.
