A New Canaan family returning from vacation July 8 found their South Avenue home burglarized, according to police.

The family had been away for a week when they returned and found the front door was kicked in, police said. The only room that was ransacked was the master bedroom, where numerous jewelry items were missing, according to the report. Police said the items include necklaces, gold bands and earrings, but a complete list and estimated value have yet to be determined.

Police said they're investigating whether the burglary is connected to a series of similar incidents in New Canaan and Darien this month.
