New Canaan forecast: Light snow early, icy mix later
Light snow is falling across southwestern Connecticut as of 4 a.m. today, but the precipitation is expected to become a mixed freezing drizzle later, threatening to glaze roads during the morning commute.
In its "Winter Weather Advisory" in effect until 10 a.m., the National Weather Service warns that even though there is likely to be less than a half-inch of new accumulation in this coastal region, the potentially icy conditions could make for hazardous travel.
The snow and sleet are expected to stop by about 2 p.m. as the temperature rises to a daytime high of about 44 degrees.
Tonight should be clear, the NWS says, with a low of about 26 degrees and a north wind between 9 and 13 mph.
Tomorrow should be sunny, with a high near 40 degrees and a wind from the northwest wind between 11 and 15 mph. Nighttime will be clear and cold, with a low of about 23.
Saturday should be mostly sunny, with a high near 38 degrees, the weather service predicts.
