New Canaan forecast: A mixed winter mess moving in
Snow, freezing rain and sleet are the latest elements of another "Winter Storm Watch" issued for southwestern Connecticut by the National Weather Service.
Although today will start out sunny, snow is expected to start falling late tonight into tomorrow, according to the NWS forecast. The daytime high temperature will be about 27 degrees with a north wind between 6 and 10 mph.
As the storm moves in, the nighttime temperature will fall to about 17 degrees.
Snow continues through tomorrow morning, with accumulations up to 3 inches. The high temperature will be about 31 degrees.
Tomorrow night, there will be periods of mixed snow, freezing rain, and sleet. The temperature falls into the mid 20s, while new snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 2 inches is possible.
On Wednesday, the wintry mix will continue through midday. The daytime high temperature will edge above the freezing mark and an east wind should clock in at between 13 and 15 mph.
There's still snow and freezing rain in the forecast for Wednesday until about 9 p.m.
Thursday and Friday appear to offer a sunny respite from the winter onslaught that has the region in its grip this year, the NWS says.
Saturday, however, there is yet another chance of snow in the forecast.
