New Canaan eighth grade Black hosted Wilton Blue Sunday at Dunning Stadium and came away with a resounding 24-7 victory.

New Canaan opened the game on offense and moved easily downfield. Emerson Logie ran for 21 yards and then completed passes to Drew Monroe and Andrew Jahns, the latter for 34 yards, to set up the first touchdown, a Jahns 3-yard run. Peter Swindell kicked the extra point for the 7-0 lead.

Following solid hits by Logan Ritch and Monroe, Wilton was forced to punt. After a holding penalty wiped out a touchdown, Logie connected with Swindell on the next play for a 40-yard touchdown pass and a 14-0 lead.

On defense, a strong pass rush by Luke Salvati, Lucas Niang, Thomas Williams and Matt Hall forced Wilton into a hurried throw that Swindell intercepted and returned to the Wilton 32. It took New Canaan four plays to increase the lead to 21-0. A 20-yard pass to Clayton Burt set up a 1-yard Logie score as the first quarter ended.

Keeping the pressure on Wilton, the defense used strong tackles by Ritch, Williams, Jeffrey Murphy, William Arliss, Austin Alistor and Rafael Lovas to force another Wilton punt. A Jahns 10-yard run and a 48-yard pass to Shannon Smith set New Canaan up for a 20-yard field goal by Swindell to close out the half at 24-0.

Offensive linemen William Hooks, Ryan Radecki, Casey Herzog, Hall, Niang, Ritch, and Salvati controlled the line of scrimmage for most of the third quarter.

After Wilton got on the board to cut the New Canaan lead to 24-7, the game ended with a sack by Ritch and Salvati, as New Canaan moved to 5-0-1.
