The New Canaan U12 boys soccer team closed out its season with a 3-1 win over Wilton. With only one defeat all season, New Canaan showed a growing understanding of the tactical side of the game under coach Aaron.

The match started with Alex Zarikos and Sam Rhodes combining well down the left side. Cole Kammerer was not awarded a penalty despite being upended, but he was eventually rewarded with a goal on a scramble to give New Canaan a the 1-0 lead.

Jack Nowell, Stephen Curiale and Tom Richardson were all combining well in midfield, but New Canaan could not quite put the finishing touch to the good play. Slowly, Wilton started to possess the ball and Sean Manzella and Kent Williams made some important defensive tackles to keep New Canaan ahead.

Eventually Wilton did pull even when a through ball left goalie Dominic DeMarco no chance with a well taken one-on-one finish just before halftime.

The second half saw New Canaan take control with several attacking corners. Nick Toldalagi, Tim Scranton and Alex Zarikos kept the pressure on with some driving attacks and Quinn Murphy made some important defensive tackles in the middle of the park.

New Canaan eventually broke through with goals by Grant Carlson and Mead Savage to seal the victory.
