New Canaan played well in a competitive game against Danbury at Saxe on Saturday, but the team had problems finding the back of the Danbury net in a 3-1 setback.

Jack Batchelor played a solid game in goal in the first half, helped by the stout defensive play of left fullback Wyatt Spangler.

Forward Diego Ospina had a good scoring chance, but the half ended with Danbury up 2-0.

In the second half, midfielder Jake Neuberger came close to scoring, but the Danbury keeper knocked away his hard shot at the last moment.

Forward Sam Rhodes scored a goal with 20 minutes to play, following up a long run with a hard volley into the net, but New Canaan was unable to score again, as Danbury claimed the 3-1 victory.
