On Sunday, the New Canaan U11 Reds picked up a 4-0 win over Ridgefield Orange.

Lucy Coutts and Kayla Beck pitched a shutout in goal, stopping several challenging shots and being productive with their goal kicks. Their job was made easier by a strong defense, led by Meghan Kloud.

In the first half, the Reds took 10 shots but had a difficult time finishing their scoring opportunities as Abby Carstensen and Ryann Mushkin had shots hit the post. New Canaan kept pushing and India Ontero made a series of nice dribbles in the box and then launched a hard shot past the goalie for the first score of the game.

In the second half, New Canaan dominated possession. Claire Ross tracked down a loose ball in the box and fired a shot in the corner of the goal for a 2-0 lead.

Soon after, Jessica Eccleston got past the defense with a beautiful run and beat the goalie for the third goal. Olivia Cosco scored the New Canaan's final goal, calmly freezing the goalie and then rolling the ball into the corner of the net.
