NEW CANAAN — Police issued a summons for reckless driving to a 50-year-old Greenwich man after he hit a utility pole and caused a power outage near Smith Ridge Road.
On April 23 around 4:45 p.m., police responded to Smith Ridge Road on a report of a car that had gone off the road, crashing into a rock wall and the guide wire for a utility police. Power went out in the area upon the car striking the wire. Police discovered John Yang, of Cognewaugh Road in Greenwich, had been driving southbound on Smith Ridge Road. The Greenwich man told police he couldn’t remember what caused him to crash, indicating he likely had fallen asleep at the wheel, police said.
Yang was issued a misdemeanor summons for reckless driving and failure to drive in the right-hand lane. He posted a $240 bond and was given a court date of May 4.
