The New Canaan Police Department will begin enforcing the Overnight Parking Ban Dec. 1. Police released a memorandum stating that "any vehicle parked over 30 minutes between the hours of 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. shall be considered to have been parked overnight and a parking ticket will be issued."

Most of the enforcement will focused on town-owned parking lots, major roadways and the business district. Parking lots and areas that are exceptions to the rules include: vehicles in the Locust Avenue parking lot, vehicles on East Hills Drive, vehicles in Mead Park, vehicles in the row adjacent to the tracks and on the West side of the Lumber Yard Parking Lot (indicated by signage), vehicles in the west side lot of the Richmond Hill parking lot (indicated by signage) and vehicles parked in upper lot of the Talmadge Hill Parking Lot where indicated by signage.
