Faculty exhibit at Silvermine
The exhibit showcases the current works of the distinguished artist/teachers of the Silvermine School of Art. The exhibition represents every style and medium, including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry and silversmithing. All art work in the exhibit is available for purchase. The public is invited to the open reception on Thursday, Aug. 25, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Handwright Gallery and Framing presents "Texture in Motion," new paintings by Connecticut artist Kimberly Dawn.

Kids to discover history at camp
Children can discover what life was like in the American past through historically inspired crafts and activities at the New Canaan Historical Society summer camps.
Camp week is Aug. 15-19 from 9:15 to noon. The camp is open to children 6 to 11 years old.

E.M. Ashe works on display
The New Canaan Historical Society has a new exhibit in The Silvermine Room featuring the works of E.M. Ashe. The Silvermine Room is dedicated to exhibiting the art and history of the early members of the Silvermine Artist's Colony.
All of the works in the Ashe exhibit are on loan from private collections; the majority are from a grandson of the artist. The exhibit will remain on view until Sept. 3.
The Historical Society hours are Tuesday to Friday 9:30 to 4:30 and Saturday 9:30 to 12:30.
St. George plans
St. George Greek Festival will take place Aug. 25-28. The festival features authentic Greek food, pastries, marketplace, traditional Greek dancing, live Greek music, rides and a raffle to win a 2012 Mercedes Benz. Bracelets for rides, priced at $25, are available all day Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, and on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. Free admission.
