New Canaan Farmers Market vendor to sell Connecticut wine
NEW CANAAN — In addition to freshly grown fruits and vegetables and locally sourced meat, the New Canaan Farmers Market will soon offer wine from a Connecticut vineyard.
At a recent meeting, the Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously to approve a request from the Farmers Market for a temporary permit to allow one vendor to sell alcohol during regular market hours.
According to market Manager Lexi Gazy, the approved vendor is Sunset Meadow Vineyard, of Goshen.
The vineyard will be selling by the bottle its estate-grown wines made using its grapes. Sunset Meadow’s Cayuga White was recognized as Connecticut Magazine’s Best Wine of 2013.
“They’ll start selling within the next couple of weeks. We have to finalize with the Health Department first,” Gazy sai.
The Farmers Market opened April 23 and is open every Saturday through Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Old Center School Parking Lot.
