NEW CANAAN — The New Canaan Farmers Market is set for an Earth Day opening in 2017. There will not, however, be a winter market in the new year.
The Board of Selectmen approved a request from Lexi Gazy, who co-founded the market, to hold the farmers market in the Old Center School Parking Lot on Maple Street on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. from April 22 through December.
“The only difference is they’ve decided to expand their summer hours and they’re not going to do a winter market this year,” Selectman Beth Jones said. “They don’t have a lot of stuff in the winter anyway. Most (farmers) don’t have green houses, so it’s just some winter vegetables.”
