NEW CANAAN — A local nanny was charged after leaving her 6-month-old charge in the car while she went to the grocery store.
Natarine Hilton, 41, of Sound Beach Avenue in Old Greenwich, was issued a summons for leaving a child in a car unattended after police said she left a baby alone in the parking lot of Acme on Sept. 27. Around 10:50 a.m., Hilton left the sleeping child alone in the car, which was turned on and had the air condition running, for about eight minutes while she went inside to purchase a few items. Police received a tip from a witness about the baby in the vehicle. They later contacted Hilton and the family who employs her and issued her a misdemeanor summons at their home.
Hilton was released on a promise to appear in court Oct. 9.
