NEW CANAAN — A 16-year-old boy from New York was arrested on a warrant, charged with passing a fake $100 bill in January at an Elm Street store.

According to police, the teen left the store with the $100 bill after the clerk refused the purchase, believing the bill was counterfeit. He was identified following a joint investigation involving New Canaan, Westchester County, and Ridgefield police.

The Bronx, N.Y., teen turned himself in at police headquarters on Monday and was charged with first-degree forgery.
