The annual New Canaan High School Spring Choral Concert will take place on Wednesday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m.

This year, the concert will be performed at a new venue, St. Mark's Episcopal Church at 111 Oenoke Ridge. Conducted by David Gomez and featuring the NCHS Choir and Madrigal Ensemble, the program features masterworks Faure's "Requiem" and Haydn's "Te Deum."

New Canaan High School Choral and Advanced Placement Music Theory teacher David Gomez offered a brief overview of the high school choral program.

"The group's hard work together has produced a talented choral program that focuses on emotive choral singing with emphasis on blending, precise diction and elegance of tone," he said.

The choir rehearses one hour each day. Two small group rehearsals are also offered each week.

"The program at NCHS has a storied tradition of quality choral music making. The choir has toured several world cities. The choristers have recently returned from a highly successful choral tour of London. The ensemble was invited to take part in the London International Choral Festival, where they were lauded for their moving performances in concert and during the adjudications. To date, they have also given joint concerts with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and Norwalk Symphony.

The NCHS SpringChoral Concert is part of the NCPS Celebration of the Arts 2012. It will take place on Wednesday, May 23, at 7:30 p.m., at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge, New Canaan. There is no entrance fee and is open to the general public.
