There are still plenty of days left in the current boating season, and the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk is offering a "Safe Boating & Personal Watercraft" course on Sat., Aug. 28, to help you get the most out of your time afloat.
Offered in a convenient one-day format, the course is perfect for new boaters and longtime seafarers who would enjoy a refresher. Topics include safe and correct boating techniques, navigation rules, legal requirements, safety at sea and more. Completion of the course earns participants a safety certificate required by the state of Connecticut for the operator of any motorboat or sailboat over 191 and a half feet.
The course runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Participants can bring a lunch or purchase one in the Aquarium's cafeteria. (The hour-long lunch break includes the opportunity to explore the Maritime Aquarium.)
Cost is $85 per person. Advance registration is required. Call 203-852-0700, ext. 2206. The final class of the season will be held on Sept. 25.
