Man flips the bird, then charged with DUI
Christopher Keating, 54, of 97 South Ave. was arrested around 3 p.m. July 1 on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.
Police responded to a call about a dispute in progress on Cross Street between Keating and a 55-year-old woman. When officers arrived, the woman told them Keating had given her the finger while both were driving on Summer Street, police said. When both drivers got out of their vehicles on Cross Street, they began to argue, according to the report.
Keating told police that he had mistaken the woman and had meant to give the finger to a completely different person, who drives the same car and was going to the same place, according to the report.
When questioning Keating, police said, officers smelled the odor of alcohol on his breath. He was administered a field sobriety test, which he failed, said police.
He posted $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 15.
