Douglas P. Sheridan, 45, of Madison was charged with evading responsibility and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol at 9:50 p.m. Nov. 2 on White Oakshade Road.

An officer was dispatched to investigate the report of a car crashing into a rock wall, and when he arrived, Sheridan approached and told the officer that he had a flat tire and was trying to get it fixed. He first denied being in an accident, according to the report.

Upon further questioning, the officer determined that Sheridan had run into the rock wall and a strong odor of alcohol was also detected emanating from Sheridan. After conducting basic field sobriety tests, Sheridan was taken into custody and charged police said.

He was released on $300 bond and is set for a Nov. 15 court date.
