Thirty students in the 4th Congressional District have been nominated for appointment to the U.S. military service academies, according to U.S. Rep. Jim Himes, R-4.

Among the nominees are John Ambrogio of Greenwich, Greenwich High School, U.S. Naval Academy and U.S. Military Academy; Alexandra Ashcraft of Darien, Darien High School, USNA; Evangelos Boliakis of Rowayton, George Washing University, USNA; Andrew Chappo of Westport, Staples High School, USMA; Brendan Doran of New Canaan, Fairfield College Preparatory School, USNA; Michael Dustin of Greenwich, Greenwich High School, USMA; William Firisin of Easton, Fairfield Prep, USMA; Daniel Glocker of Darien, College of Idaho, USMA; Thomas Groenings of Weston, Weston High School, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy; Alexander Hauer of Bridgeport, Fairfield Prep, USMMA; Daniel Kerrisk of Darien, Fairfield Prep, USNA; Peter Klein of Darien, Valley Forge Military Academy, USNA; Brooke Mackno of Fairfield, Fairfield Ludlowe High School, USNA; USMA; U.S. Air Force Academy; Samuel Oster of Norwalk, Academy of Information Technology and Engineering, USNA; Thomas Seiler of Darien, Fairfield Prep, USMA; Kyle Webb of Stamford, Greens Farms Academy, USNA; USMA; and Zachory Tobin of Southport, Fairfield Ludlowe High School, USNA.

Himes selected the nominees based on the recommendations of his Academy Nomination Panel and their academic record, potential for leadership, motivation to serve, community service, and participation in extracurricular activities.

"It is a privilege to nominate such outstanding candidates," said Himes. "I admire these young people's decision to accept the challenges of attending an academy, and have great respect for their desire to serve our country."
