Letter: YMCA grateful for fundraiser
The New Canaan YMCA wishes to express its tremendous gratitude to New Balance New Canaan and SPED*NET New Canaan for their very generous support of our special needs initiative.
On Aug. 23, more than 500 kids and adults came out to participate in the fifth annual All Out for Autism 5K event. This year, proceeds were again designated for our Y's special needs initiative, which is an important component of our mission to create an environment where everybody can belong. The New Canaan YMCA presently serves more than 100 children, teens and adults with special needs through social and recreational programming. We will be using their very generous grant to provide special family programs and activities throughout the year.
In addition to New Balance and SPED*NET, we would also like to thank event sponsors Oxygen Fitness; Joe's Pizza; Karl Chevrolet; Walter Stewart's Market; M Milestones; HealthFare; Rosie; C&H Automotive; Aetheria Day Spa; Lisa Corrado Nutrition; the New Canaan Police Benevolent Association; Bruegger's Bagels; and SLC Therapy, as well as all the day-of-event volunteers from CERT, the National Charity League and the YMCA.
We'd also like to recognize Ron and Tina Rosenfeld from New Balance, as well as Judi Anders and Denise Buckenheimer from SPED*NET for conceiving this event and making it come to life each year. Their tremendous efforts to raise awareness and create a community that embraces all people are to be celebrated.
