Residents asks for gun amnesty in New Canaan
The pain is increasing instead of subsiding. As the details are slowly revealed in the Sandy Hook massacre, your heart aches more and your stomach turns. When the loss of a single life in an incident such as this would have been so horrible, to multiply it by 26 is just too much to take. And on top of that, for us in New Canaan, it happened just down the road in a familiar, nearby and lovely town.
What I feel is so important now is that we learn to become more aware of the warning signs in people, such as this gunman, that could lead them to copying this sort of violence. We need more ways to deal with people, young people in particular, with these violent tendencies.

Further, I think we should stop the selling of guns without background checks, and we need to stop the sale of all assault type weapons.
I think New Canaan should make a gift in memory of Newtown's tragedy, and to ourselves, of a gun amnesty and start by getting rid of some of the guns in our own town that could wind up being turned against us. What do you think, Rob?
