A 36-year-old male Connecticut Light and Power employee reported a larceny at the New Canaan substation on the corner of New Norwalk Road and Lakeview Avenue March 10 at 11:35 a.m.
The complainant told police someone cut a lock on a storage container and took an unknown quantity of copper piping. Police said between current and former employees, potentially 500 different people may have had access to the front gate in order to get into the area. Police said the culprits likely fled the scene by cutting through the chain link fence behind the container.
The matter is still under investigation.
