Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, co-hosts of MSNBC's weekday morning program, "Morning Joe," will present a book discussion sponsored by Ladies Who Launch (LWL) of Southwestern Conn. at J. McLaughlin's, 1026 Post Road East in Westport Wednesday Oct. 26, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. J. McLaughlin will donate a portion of the evening's proceeds to The Women's Campaign School at Yale University.

Kathy McShane, director of the Southwestern Connecticut franchise of Ladies Who Launch, organized the event to provide LWL members and the general public with the opportunity to hear best-selling author Brzezinski talk about her new book, "Knowing Your Value -- Women, Money and Getting What You're Worth." This latest book takes a look at the role of women in the workplace and, specifically, the fight to gain recognition and a fair salary.

"I know that most women in business have difficulty negotiating for themselves" McShane said. She has seen the phenomenon play out over and again during her 25-year career in marketing and product/brand development for major financial institutions, as well as her own company. "What I aim to do at LWL is to educate and motivate my ladies so that they can better run their businesses. When Mika came out with her book, I thought it was a great opportunity to see if she would come share with us what she experienced." McShane hopes that the evening will not only demonstrate to participants that successful women can struggle too, but offer real lessons on how to overcome this major stumbling block to successful entrepreneurship.

In addition, participants will have the chance to hear Scarborough and Brzezinski talk about their experiences as an award-winning TV news team. This will be followed by a question and answer session.

Former Congressman Scarborough (R-Fla.) is the host of MSNBC's" Morning Joe." In April 2011, Scarborough was named to the prestigious "Time 100" list of the world's most influential people. In describing why he was selected, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said, "Joe speaks from his mind without fear of favor; before he puts his country before his party ... That independence makes Joe Scarborough such a valuable voice in American politics and it's what makes `Morning Joe' such a successful show."

Brzezinski is the co-host of MSNBC's "Morning Joe." Her memoir "All Things At Once," became a New York Times bestseller in January 2010. Brzezinski's second book, "Knowing Your Value," was published in May 2011 and reached No. 1 on the New York Times bestsellers list for business books. A native of New York City, Brzezinski is the daughter of foreign policy expert and former national security advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski. She attended Williams College and received a degree in English. Brzezinski lives in New York with her husband and two daughters.
