On Sunday, Nov. 6, Kids Helping Kids, an local organization committed to developing leaders through youth-led service projects, held its third annual Cuts for a Cause event at Salon Kiklo in New Canaan.
The salon opened its doors on Sunday and the stylists volunteered their time all day Sunday. Thirteen teens came together from eight different schools to plan and run the event. People came in for a haircut and Kids Helping Kids will give all of the proceeds to Locks of Love to buy wigs for financially disadvantaged kids who have lost their hair due to long-term illness.
They raised more than $2,700 in donations for Locks of Love. Additionally, the teens had a bake sale that contributed $470 to a different cause -- helping send children to school in Nicaragua.
