NEW CANAAN — Both the science and the art of snowflake making were explored Friday afternoon at the New Canaan Library, which hosted a craft and inquiry program for kids.

“This is about taking some time out to explore different mixtures and test out different recipes to see what different combinations make snow,” said Cheryl Capitani, manager of family services. “It’s very open-ended.”

Along with stations to concoct faux snow from a variety of ingredients, there was also a craft table for creating paper flakes as well.

“It’s really just a chance to play and notice and observe,” Capitani said.
