NEW CANAAN — Creative hands-on work is very much alive in New Canaan, thanks to a new four-week class for kids being offered by the Recreation Department in conjunction with the New Canaan Library.

“They learn to sew the first hour,” explained teacher Lee Ann Mistretta, with the creation of pillows, pajama pants and mermaid tails part of the curriculum.

The library donated five machines from its Maker Lab, Mistretta said, and the Recreation Department provided the rest.

The kids brought the creativity.
