NEW CANAAN — While their styles differ, the work of two fine artists melds well for a six-week joint show at the New Canaan Library’s H. Pelham Curtis Gallery.

An opening reception was held Thursday evening, with the work on display through April 8.

“It’s great that they gave me this opportunity to participate,” said painter Katya Lebrija of Wilton. “It was hard to get in and I’m so glad.”

“I’m very pleased for the opportunity to show my work,” said painter Valery Sutherland of Marlborough. “I think it’s great.”

Curator Micaela Porta noted that the show’s title, “Destinations,” was partially inspired by common elements of their respective styles.

“I think that they both have elements of cartography,” she said, “and elements that convey imagines places—both physical, as well as psychic and internal.”
