NEW CANAAN — In a tradition aimed at giving old dogs new digs, the 8th annual New Canaan Dog Days took place Sunday afternoon on Grove Street.

Money raised went to local animal shelters, according to Adam Jacobson of Pet Pantry Warehouse, which hosted the event that included music, vendors and lots of canine bonding.

“Last year we had over 1,000 people at the gate,” he said, noting his store also gave 10 percent of the day’s purchases to shelters.

“I think it’s a great community event that started a while back, and we’ve continued the tradition,” he said. “And who doesn’t like pets, right?”
