Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County is seeking mature, compassionate individuals from New Canaan to serve as patient support volunteers.

Patient support volunteers visit homebound adults who may be experiencing loneliness, personal loss, bereavement, life transitions or chronic illness, and they provide companionship and counseling for one hour a week.

"The program's goal is to help individuals maintain a sense of independence and remain active and connected to their communities," said Chris Urpin, volunteer coordinator for Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County. "In most cases, these one-on-one relationships develop into special, long-lasting friendships.
