More than 40 volunteers came to the Town Hall auditorium on Thursday to make the evergreen wreaths that will decorate the town for the holidays. Members of the New Canaan Beautification League and the Garden Club of New Canaan have come together for decades to make six large, 6-foot wreaths for the library, train station, post office, police station, Irwin Park, and Schoolhouse Apartments, and added red bows to more than four dozen regular-sized wreaths.

This year, the Garden Club also organized the making of small evergreen arrangements for Meals on Wheels trays and large evergreen arrangements for the New Canaan Inn and Waveny Care Center reception areas. The evergreens for the large wreaths are donated from cuttings that volunteers bring in and from prunings that town crews from Public Works cut, led by Mose Saccary.

The Greens Workshop was organized by Sara Hunt for the NC Beautification League and by Catharine Sturgess, Wendy Gidez and Maryjane Markey of the Garden Club.
