The first night of Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, was celebrated at God's Acre Dec. 1 despite inclement weather with the lighting of the menorah.

Various members of the community were present at the celebration where volunteer families lit the menorah while Cantor Shirah Sklar lead in the singing of songs and prayers. Special guests from the Temple Shalom in Norwalk including Rabbis Mark Lipson and Brian Leiken were also present in addition to Selectmen Rob Mallozzi and Sally Hines and State Rep. The menorah will continue to be lit for the next seven nights of Hanukkah at 5 p.m. in God's Acre.
