On Sunday, Sept. 25, Grace Community Church held a special service to commemorate its 10-year anniversary.

Speakers included various members of the congregation, some whom have attended the church since Grace's inception in September 2001. Many spoke of the significance of the church in its beginning days and the importance of being able to come together as a community to support each other in the wake of Sept. 11.

New member Conor Grennan shared his gratitude for the church and how it helped his family meet new people when they first moved to New Canaan.

"From the first day, Liz and I were welcomed into Grace Community Church like family; and not just a family that only gets together on Sundays, but one that reached out to us throughout the week, one that celebrated with us and cared for us so faithfully, so unconditionally, that we wanted nothing more than to share that love with others," he said.

The church began as a small Bible study held in families' backyard. Services are currently held at Saxe Middle School.

Grace Community Church's Sunday service is at 9:30 a.m. at the school. Coffee and bagels are available at 9 a.m. in the lobby. Nursery care is available for babies through 3-year-olds.
