Girl Scouts taking new members
Published 12:35 pm, Saturday, January 18, 2014
Girl Scouts of Connecticut is encouraging girls to join the organization, where they can try new experiences, camp under the stars or make a difference in their communities with service projects.
There are a number of ways in which to participate in Girl Scouting. In addition to joining troops, girls may enter Girl Scouts as an individual member and participate in a series, events, travel opportunities or enjoy summer camps throughout the state.
From a Girl Scout Daisy in kindergarten learning about animals and making new friends, to a Girl Scout Ambassador in high school making a sustainable change in her community by pursuing the Gold Award, the highest award in scouting, the Girl Scout Leadership Experience will help girls discover themselves, connect with others and take action to make the world a better place.
Research from the Girl Scout Research Institute shows that women who were Girl Scouts have a stronger sense of self, greater civic engagement, and higher educational attainment and income than those who weren't Girl Scouts.
