Five New Canaan residents on Arts For Healing board
Arts For Healing, a New Canaan-based nonprofit organizational providing integrated music therapy and art therapy to individuals with emotional, physical, developmental and social needs, has named the 2013 board of directors.
The volunteers making up the board from New Canaan are Claude Bernstein, Don Martocchio, Karen Nisenson, Steven Phillips and Emily Warren; from Fairfield, Adam Blumenthal; from Norwalk, Annie Konidaris; from Stamford, Nancy Heller; from Weston, Cathleen Crowley-Piscitell; and from South Salem, N.Y., Samantha Zaffiro.
"I am delighted the organization has attracted such a passionate and talented group of volunteers to serve on the board," said Steve Phillips, Arts For Healing board chairman, "all of whom are genuinely dedicated to making the world a better place for the special needs children and adults we serve. I am grateful to each of them for their contribution and support of the vital work our highly qualified therapists perform each and every day."
Arts For Healing has been serving the special needs population of children and adults for 12 years at its center, 24 Grove St. Arts For Healing also provides services to New Canaan Public Schools, Waveny Care Center, the New Canaan YMCA, First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan, Norwalk Hospital, JumpStart and Stillmeadow School in Stamford, Saint Catherine's School in Fairfield, and River House, an adult day-care center in Greenwich.
