Fishing expert shares tips at Waveny Park in New Canaan
Take a tour of the 19 trout streams in Fairfield County to discover where to go, where to park, what to use and how to fish the incredible rivers hiding in plain sight in your own backyard.
Mianus Chapter Vice President Jeff Yates, of Wilton, is wrapping up his work on "Fly Fishing Fairfield County: Secrets of Suburban Streams," a soon to be released regional fishing guide book, and will share everything he has learned about our local rivers.
Included in his talk will be information on the Silvermine River in New Canaan with detailed instructions on where to go, where to park and how to fish this great stream.
Yates will cover all these rivers and tell you which ones to fish when you're targeting trophy trout, where to go to find native brook trout and what's your best bet for a quiet, scenic day on a secluded stream.
The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at the mansion at Waveny Park in New Canaan. Trout Unlimited meetings are free and open to the public. Visit www.mianustu.org.
