The eighth annual Allan Jay Memorial tennis tournaments will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17 at New Canaan's Mead Park.

The Allan Jay Memorial tournaments, which are open to the public, have grown into one of New Canaan's premiere sporting events. Last year, over 80 players participated in the tournament and over 100 spectators attended. Last year's draw included several players who participated on the ATP tour, two NCAA Division-III champions, and one former Davis Cup player.

The tournament has three separate doubles draws to accommodate all levels of ability. Any tandems, regardless of gender, are eligible, but one player from every team must be at least 15 years old. There are separate sections for mixed teams, husband and wife teams and parent and child teams.

The cost to participate is $40 per team. The entry includes breakfast, lunch and refreshments.
