The Kiwanis Club of New Canaan welcomed Andrea Dunnam, manager of fundraising and special events for the American Diabetes Association, at a recent luncheon at the Roger Sherman Inn.
Dunnam, who lives in New Canaan, became involved in the ADA when her daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. She's an advocate for research and development, and presented an overview of diabetes' various forms, how they're managed, and ways to prevent some types of diabetes. Currently, nearly 26 million Americans have some form of diabetes and projections are that the disease will continue to grow throughout the next decade.
