Walter Stewart's Market sent a check for $1,707.65 to the New Canaan High School Scholarship Foundation, proceeds from its annual T-Bill "Donation Days" drive.

From April 6 to 12, Walter Stewart's customers donated "T-Bill" balances they earned buying groceries to help New Canaan High School graduates pursue higher education.

"We appreciate the continued support from Walter Stewart's and their customers," said Roberta Peet, co-chairman of the New Canaan High School Scholarship Committee. "These contributions will assist many New Canaan High School graduates who are in need of financial assistance to further their education."

"T-Bill" rewards are earned when customers shop. They then can use them for additional discounts on future purchases or to help provide financial assistance to participating local nonprofits during Donation Days drives throughout the year.

"Over the last 12 years through our T-Bill Donation Days drives, together with our customers we have been able to contribute close to $35,000 to the NCHS Scholarship Foundation. It's a great local cause and we're pleased to continue our support," Alex Stewart, general manager of Walter Stewart's Market, said.

Walter Stewart's Market, 229 Elm St., was founded in 1907 by Walter Stewart, great-grandfather to Alex Stewart.
