NEW CANAAN — Police charged a 36-year-old Darien man with drunk driving after he was spotted crossing the double yellow line and driving too close to another vehicle on May 31.

Around 11:45 p.m., an officer on patrol spotted the offending car when it was driving down Main Street, crossing over the line to go southbound in the northbound lane. The officer also saw the car drive too closely to another vehicle while going westbound on Farm Road. The officer pulled the car over and spoke with the driver, Shane Kaiser of Hollow Tree Ridge Road. The officer could smell alcohol on the Darien man’s breath.

Kaiser subsequently failed a field sobriety test and was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. He was also charged with failure to drive right and following too close. He was processed and refused to admit to a blood alcohol content test. He posted a $250 bond and will appear in court June 13.; @erin_kayata
