Danbury man charged with intent to sell drugs in New Canaan
NEW CANAAN — Police charged a 20-year-old Danbury man with possession of drugs with intent to distribute after he was pulled over and officers said they found with marijuana, a scale and clear plastic bags in his car.
On July 22 around 9:30 a.m., Edwin Moots, of Main Street, was pulled over for driving on Valley Road without a visible front license plate. The New Canaan officer smelled marijuana coming from the car and searched the car with his K-9. The police dog found several small plastic baggies containing marijuana, a scale and empty plastic baggies in his car. The officer also determined Moots gave him a fake name and the Danbury man’s license had been suspended.
Moots was taken into custody and charged with interfering with an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license, criminal impersonation and possession with the intent to sell. He posted a $250 bond and was given a court date of Aug. 2.
