Copper pipes stolen from New Canaan home being renovated
About $500 worth of copper pipes were stolen from a Summer Street home.
The homeowner called police at about 1 p.m. Aug. 27 to report that the pipes were cut from the ceiling area on the first floor sometime during the prior 24 hours, according to the report.
The complainant, who's having her house renovated and is not living there, said she arrived at 11:15 a.m. that day and found that a window was broken and the pipes were gone, police said.
That was the second time her house was burglarized in August, the woman told police. According to the report, a rear door was forced open a week prior but she didn't call police because nothing was missing.
Police said a neighbor reported seeing a black or dark green Chevrolet Suburban driving past the victim's residence twice at about midnight Aug. 27.
The case is under investigation.
