The Manhattan Brass will perform in a benefit concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at New Canaan High School.
The New Canaan Public Schools Visual and Performing Arts Department staff is hosting the concert that will raise money to upgrade the seats, sound and lighting system in Saxe Middle School's auditorium.
More than 1,200 Saxe visual and performing arts students use the auditorium, according to Alan Sneath, the department's director. Built in 1957, it has had only minor safety and sound upgrades. Each year, the Saxe choir, band and orchestra students rehearse and perform in auditorium and two musicals are produced, in addition to three elementary Stringsfests and other uses.
