Volunteers from the First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan recently completed a mission trip to aid in the rebuilding of the town of Prattville, N.Y., during the week of Sept. 24 to 29.

The mission trip was designed to be intergenerational. The ages of the volunteers ranged from teens to seniors. The work included demolition, dry-walling, tiling, general carpentry and clean-up. In addition, the team shared fellowship with several other Christian volunteer organizations.

Prattsville, a small rural community of 600, is located about three hours from New Canaan in the heart of the Catskill Mountains. Prattsville was devastated by flooding from tropical storm Irene in August 2011, and much of the town is still in need of rebuilding.

Volunteers were Charlie Robinson, Brian Lombardi, John Murphy, Paul Hartley, Scott Beyer, Rachel Beyer, Allison Gray, David Hill, Carolyn Sloan, Brian Carlson, Bernard Carlson and Stephan von Jena.
