John Adams, a Christian Science healer and teacher from New York City, will give a public talk at the New Canaan Christian Science Church at 49 Park St. on Sunday, June 6, at 3 p.m.

In his talk, titled "If God is All, Where is He at this moment?" Adams will discuss his own healing of a severe drug habit while in his 20s by applying the principles of Christian Science.

"When it seems like circumstances are overwhelming and there is no answer in sight, many people have found that prayer brings clarity and peace to their lives," Adams said. "When my life seemed to be going in the wrong direction, prayer drew me closer to God. This closeness brought healing and purpose to my life, opening up possibilities." His healing changed his life and brought renewed commitment to his spiritual journey.

In his talk, Adams will reference the original sourcebook on Christian healing, the Bible, along with Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, which contains Bible-based universal ideas on practical spirituality. Adams explores how Christianly scientific prayer wakens individuals in need and draws them closer to God. His talk also includes the healing of a lump and the quick recovery of injuries from a car accident through prayer.

Originally from the Midwest, Adams came to New York to pursue an acting career. Later he became a businessman and owned nine flower stores in the city while raising his family there. He sold the business in 1985 to devote his full time to work as a Christian Science practitioner.

He now is also a teacher of Christian Science and speaks across the country on the power of prayer to heal, as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship.

Adams' talk is free, and he will speak with audience members afterward. All are welcome to attend. For more information, call 203-966-0293.
