The dinosaur, aka 5-year-old Sophie Reid, said she was looking forward to trick or treating.

“I’m excited for Halloween,” she said at New Canaan’s annual parade Sunday.

Reid was one of hundreds of costumed children who took part in the The New Canaan Chamber of Commerce’s 34th annual Halloween Parade with families gathering for a pre-march party in the Park Street parking lot at noon.

The parade made its way up Elm Street at 1 p.m., with children trick or treating door to door at downtown businesses.

Families were entertained by students from the New Canaan School of Rock playing rock classics such as “Smokin’” by Boston and “Spirit of Radio” by Rush.

Other sponsors included Bankwell in New Canaan, Dunkin’ Donuts, the Toy Chest, NuRenu Brand Marketing. Goodie Bag items were donated by Mackenzie’s Convenience Store, TD Bank, Dr. Anna Simonis of New Canaan Pediatric Dentistry and others.
