Chamber of Commerce hosts 30th Halloween Parade
The New Canaan Chamber of Commerce will stage its 30th annual Halloween Parade Sunday, Oct. 30. They will gather at noon in the Park Street parking lot to distribute goodie bags with a 1 p.m. parade kick off, rain or shine.
This year, the Chamber will set up booths with activities for trick-or-treaters. Residents can enter the "Best Dressed Family" contest with the prize donated by Venture Photography. Other businesses be on hand with treats and activities for all. Village Critter Outfitter will also take photos of pooches in Halloween costumes.
James Daniel Music, sponsored by Toddlertime Nursery School will entertain the crowd. Other sponsors include Avgerinos Construction, the Bank of New Canaan, Dunkin Donuts, Lang's Pharmacy, NuRenu Brand marketing, Salon Kiklo and TD Bank. Goodie bags items were donated by Baskin-Robbins, Dr. Mark DeWaele, New Canaan Chamber of Commerce, The Toy Chest and Walter Stewarts Market. New Canaan resident and CEO of Pez Candy, Joe Vittoria, has, for the seventh year, donated Pez Candy dispensers for the goodie bags.
Marchers should gather in the Park Street parking lot starting at noon. The parade will continue to the corner of Park and Elm Streets, proceed down Elm to Main Street, and then loop back up Elm Street, which will be closed to vehicular traffic.
This year's grand marshals are firemen from New Canaan Fire Company No. 1. Old Faithful Antique Fire Engine leads the parade and then returns to the top of Elm.
